Ariane Potter

"I would not be in New York City if it were not for Becky Osborn and the Music of Oz studio. I started acting in Community Theatre at a young age but never trained vocally until someone recommended Music of Oz. At a lost time in my life, Becky recommended auditioning for The American Musical Dramatic Arts School in NYC. I auditioned and was accepted! I made the move, graduated, and started auditioning. I began my professional career in the tour of Beauty and the Beast in the fall of 2002. I have also appeared on the ABC soap opera, “All My Children.” Anyone seeking a successful career in any musical area should try Music of Oz studio!"

"My lessons with Becky Osborn ended before the Music of Oz Studio began, but her instruction in piano and voice prepared me for the discipline I would need in college. I also discovered that studying music could mean something different from teaching music in a classroom. The Studio’s concept of a 'total music experience'-much like Wagner’s 'total art work'-is such an applicable form of music study. I have learned that a total music experience can mean singing the Beethoven Choral Fantasy, writing a thesis on song settings of Schubert, listening to recordings of Schnabel and Rubinstein, or practicing the fortepiano. I have take the eclectic approach to music making and now work as Education Coordinator for the Fine Arts Society of Indianapolis, a classical music broadcasting organization. My weekly radio series, 'Art for Little Ears,' introduces young people to classical music. I also obtain funding and coordinate the Society’s Music Academy, an after-school music program for disadvantaged children.
Without guidance early in my career from professional musicians like Becky Osborn and the Music of Oz Studio personnel, I wouldn’t feel confident about my abilities to teach young people about the importance of disciplined music study."

"While I did not get the whole 'studio experience,' being under the instruction of Becky Osborn before the formation of Music of Oz, I took piano and vocal lessons for several years. Becky prepared me for ISSMA and All-State contests, and more importantly, for college auditions. Yet Becky's biggest contribution to by life was introducing Music Therapy to me, which I chose as my career. Becky's direction and tutelage gave me the confidence to believe that I had the talent to utilize music in my career and also the discipline to survive the challenges of being a music major. I strongly believe that I would not be at my fulfilling, much-loved and envied job of being a music therapist if Becky had not introduced the idea to ma 7 years ago. That is the kind of individual service that each student can expect to receive at Music of Oz."
