Philosophy of Music of Oz Studios
The philosophy of the Music of Oz Studios is to teach, guide, and nurture students of all ages in the knowledge, performance, and appreciation of music in a positive and productive environment.
Music of Oz The Total Music Experience
Music of Oz Studios offer a total music experience through an integrated curriculum. The Bastien series is used for beginning and intermediate piano instruction, several methods, including the Suzuki method, for beginning through advanced string instruction, and varying methods for guitar and wind instruction. An original voice curriculum is used which introduces solfeggio singing and rhythmic dictation as it launches students into basic repertoire. Supplemental books, tapes, and other materials are used as motivational and instructional tools.
Music of Oz Studios offer a wide variety of events and activities to encourage private students. These activities are regarded as an integral part of our "total music experience" because they offer challenges, fun, friendship, and positive group identity. Students will best benefit from private instruction if they participate in these activities.
Private Music Instruction
The Music of Oz Studio offers thirty minute weekly private lessons in piano, voice, guitar, percussion, string, and wind instruments. Thirty minutes of each lesson are spent in private instruction while fifteen minutes are spent in technology instruction. Studio instructors understand the differing needs and goals of individual students and adjust and personalize curricula accordingly. The Studio approach is both fun and educational and encourages students of all ages both personally and musically.
Whether seeking fame and fortune, a career in music, or simply pursuing a few hours of fun at home, students ages seven through adult at all levels of proficiency are encouraged at Music of Oz Studio.
Music of Oz Studios are educationally-minded teaching facilities which are owned by and staffed with experienced and degreed educators. We utilize the research that has been made available through the Multiple Intelligences theory and Mozart Effect-type studies which indicate that music learning and performance utilize both sides of the brain as well as front and back portions. It is a well-documented fact that students involved in music do better in school studies. These students tend to be more creative, innovative, self-disciplined, and have considerably more advanced critical thinking skills. In addition, the College Entrance Examination Board has verified that students involved in music perform better on the SATs.
